In an attempt to provide some consistency across the host sites, the following guidelines have been developed. These guidelines are based on feedback from coaches over the past two years as well as basic guidlines for safety and fair play established by US Lacrosse. Also, there is a checklist and field diagram in the attachments to help you prepare.
If you plan on hosting a jamboree this season, please review the following and make sure you have facilities that will comply. Please note that you need to provide a list of available dates at the annual meeting in March.
Guidelines for Jamboree Host Teams Requirements (Must Haves): - Properly lined and maintained fields o Must have required number of fields to support scheduled games o Field must be free of hazards (rocks, holes, debris) and have no obstructions within 5 yards of any boundary line unless adequately padded o Grass should be cut so that ground balls roll naturally o Lines should be clearly visible and in compliance with rulebook o Orange cones (seven required) to mark corners, sub box and mid field - Properly Maintained Goals o Must have two per field o Flat bottom or “obtuse angle” goals are preferred o Nets must have all holes repaired - Trained Officials o Host is responsible for scheduling officials.
NOTE: It is often difficult to find officials and you should start looking as soon as you have confirmation from the league of your hosting date(s)
o Host must either pay officials directly (then be reimbursed by league) or provide league with information to pay officials directly. - Scorekeeper o One per field to keep game time and penalty time (for multiple field you may want to ask the visiting teams to help provide volunteers) o Clock / Horn / Scoreboard - Telephone available for emergency calls (note direct line to local emergency service)
Additional Items (Nice To Haves): - Bathroom facilities available nearby or porta-lets on site - Drinking water source or cooler jugs available to all teams - Concession stand (good money maker for your team…) - Rain protection / shade on sidelines for teams and scorekeeper area - Signs indicating field locations and game scheduling per field
League reimbursement for officials’ fees at weekend jamborees can be done by completing the Officials Expense Form and submitting to Pete Cahn treasurer@nvtyll.com for payment. Note that the league is not responsible for paying officials’ fees for weekday games, but rather the scheduling and payment for officials at these games shall be the responsibility of the member organizations participating at these weekday games. |
